Lawn Fawn CHA Sneak Week 2015--Day 2

Tuesday, January 6, 2015

Welcome back for day 2 of the Lawn Fawn CHA sneak week! They've already revealed so many adorable stamps and dies yesterday (click here to view day 1) and today they are sharing a new paper line, Beachside. This set is so awesome and colorful; and, as per usual will be available in sizes 6"x 6" and 12"x 12". These will be available for purchase mid February along with all the other dies, stamps, ink, etc., that is being revealed this entire week.

When I first saw this line I thought how adorable it would be for more masculine cards with the darker hues. But it also has lighter tones in the collection which would also work for creating starry sky scenes and girly cards, too. I'm just so in love with this collection and I know you'll love it too!

If you head over to the Lawn Fawn blog for today's sneak peek you'll also be pleasantly surprised to see that they are also going to be releasing ink, new wood veneers, and Tangerine Lawn trimmings!! I know--I'm so excited I can't wait to get my hands on these. They're new line of inks are dye based so that means you'll always get a clean crisp image every time you stamp. There are 10 colors in this release (on sale mid-Feb.): Cranberry, Wild Rose, Fake tan, Sunflower, Freshly cut grass, Mermaid, Deep Sea, Hippo, Walnut, and Black licorice.

Now--Click here to head on over to there blog for your chance to win these awesome items! Leave a comment on their blog, check out DT samples, and take a closer look at the paper line and inks!

Day 4 of the Fawny Holiday Inspiration Week

Thursday, November 13, 2014

Hello everyone! It's another day in the Fawny Holiday Inspiration week--a week full of awesome cards, videos, and giveaways. You get a chance to win a stamp set ever day, this week, on the Lawn Fawn blog. You can click here to be directed to their page for your chance to win.

I created a card this week on Monday (you can view it here) but today I'm making a video and sharing a fun DIY project. This mini snow globe is simple, clean, and easy to mass produce if you plan on giving them away as little stocking stuffers; or, even just have a fun craft day with the gals! I found this plastic picture snow globes at my local Michaels craft store--but I'm sure you can find them at so many other craft and hobby stores, too. These are the types of snow globes that one would typically place a picture in; however, as a crafter I thought it would be fun to create the snow globe insert pictures out of stamps by my favorite stamp company! I hope you enjoy this video as much as I enjoyed making it!

Joyful Wishes

Friday, August 22, 2014

I know it's too early for Christmas cards but since receiving the new Lawn Fawn Fall/Winter release I haven't been able to keep my mind off of all the new sets. The stamps, dies, paper, embellishments, and trimmings are so cute--and I couldn't help but try one out and make a cute card. If you watched my video about the new release, you know that this new set, Joy to the woods, is my favorite set right now. I'm obsessed with the birch tress, the little fox, the bird, and all of the other cute elements! Another thing I'm totally in love with are these new dies that make creating hills for scenes a piece of cake. What I absolutely love about LF stamps sets is that they always include all of the pieces you need to create multiple scenes with coordinating sentiments. So if this were to be your first stamp set from LF you could make lots of different cards with it. Love!

Thinking of You

Monday, June 23, 2014

Last night, before bed, I had the urge to get out my watercolors and create something beautiful. I didn’t know what I was going to create—a card, table number, or just a big mess. I’ve been really wanted to sit down and let loose with watercoloring using a brush instead of my usual approach, which is using distress ink and simply smashing my paper in it, hehe. I have a palette with lots of great shades on it and I use a few of them for this card.
This was also the first time I attempted the iron off embossing technique but I totally failed at it. I don’t know exactly what I did wrong but the computer paper stuck to the embossing instead of removing it. Do any of you (who have tried this) know what I could have done wrong? I had the iron on a low setting, with the steam feature, off. I was wondering if it was my embossing powder. I wasn’t using the WOW embossing powder that I’ve seen most crafters use for this technique—so maybe that could be it? But anyways, since that didn’t work out I had to die cut that piece off of the card; and, instead I simply stamped the ‘thinking of you’ sentiment on a piece of white cardstock and inlayed that into the card. I did the same with the bird and the heart image as well. I actually really like how this card turned out even though I ran into a little problem with the iron off embossing. I think the pink text bubble stands out more.
I used nothing but Lawn Fawn products to design this card. I used the stamp set, Chit Chat, and its coordinating dies. Love you s’more (the “I love you”, sentiment), and the Lets Polka mixed sequins.
I’m so happy I took the time to create this last night, even though I was super tired. I feel like I can relax a little now that I’ve got that out of my system, lol.

Hot Pink Mini Fox Cards

Wednesday, August 7, 2013

It feels like it’s been so long since the last time I blogged. I've been meaning to blog every week but my shop has been keeping me so busy these days—and that’s a good thing. I’m so grateful to have orders coming in every day. When I first started my business I always wanted to be at this point, where orders would come in every single day, and I was always busy and always having something to do. At times, being a one woman business can be a bit stressful but it’s all worth it because doing what I love all day every day is what keeps me happy.
I've completely gone off subject but back to this post. I recently had to run over to Paper Source to purchase some white embossing power for a big order I was working on; and, I had planned on going in and only buying this one thing but, yeah right! Once I walked through the doors the first thing I grabbed was a shopping basket and I starting filling it with things. Two of the things that I chose to share today is this awesome Neon Pink Ink by, Hero Arts. It’s not a new product but it’s been on my wish list for some time now, and I thought I’d give it a try. The other thing I purchase was this super adorable fox stamp. It’s a wooden stamp (something I’m not fond of these days) but the image was just too cute to pass up. I thought this image would be perfect for creating mini note cards—especially cute for my shop. At first I wasn't too sure how a hot pink fox would look on a card but, oh my word! It’s so cute, and I love it so much.
Now that I've given this hot pink ink a try, I’d definitely like to try the other colors in the neon ink collection. I’m definitely going to be trying different stamp images on plain white card stock  and adding them to my shop very soon. I’ll also be adding these mini cards to my shop shortly as well—so if you’d rather not make them you can purchase them in my shop! You can email me if you’d like a 15% off coupon code. I’m always willing to offer discounts to readers! I hope you've enjoyed this post, and I’m hoping to have the time to continue blogging. My orders are piling up, and I hardly have time for much of anything else lately. I think I just need to get better in the time management department of my life.

Vlog—How to Make a Floral Wreath Card, From Start to Finish

Monday, May 6, 2013

Today I have a really fun video for you! I haven’t made a video in a while so I thought it was about time I made one; and, while I was making this video I realized that I’ve never created a card from start to finish on tape before. So it’s kind of exciting for me to share my design process with you. I’m making a floral wreath card using Lawn Fawn’s, Pink Lemonade Collection kit. Their papers are so perfect for this because the collection comes with a variety of flowers in a few different sizes and colors—and speaking of colors. I don’t have that many ink colors so this was a great way for me to create a vibrant eye catching wreath. The color on these papers beat ink any day—to me at least, hehe. While I was making this I thought I’d turn it into a ‘Congrats’ card for my cousin who just had a baby. Well, enough talk! I can’t wait for you to watch me make a card from start to finish. Let me know what you think of it I the comments. P.S. I'm a little talky in the beginning but it speeds up, I promise.

Handmade Housewarming Party Invitations

Wednesday, April 24, 2013

I just bought this awesome stamp set from Lawn Fawn named, Home Sweet Home, on Friday, and it already got here! So thought I’d make something cute in between orders (I couldn't help myself) using this super adorable set. My idea was to create a really fun housewarming invitation with bright colors and an R.S.V.P. reply card as well. I also had the idea to create a side pocket on the card and I think it came out pretty well. I plan on making more cards with pockets in the future. Side note—if anyone would like me to do a tutorial on how I created the pocket, let me know. But back to the card design—I used all a lot of my Lawn Fawn stamps to create this invitation; for example, the set I used for the R.S.V.P. post card was created with their set, You've got Mail, and I also used their alphabet stamps sets: Quinn’s ABCs, and Smitty’s ABCs to create the sentiments. Cute right?
I didn't go through each step of my process for this invitation—A: because I’m lazy, and B: because I really need to get back to finishing orders. But I’m hoping that the pictures I've shown kind of give you an idea of how I did it. Let me know what you think. I’d love to hear from you!

Card of the Week-- Spooky Halloween Greetings

Wednesday, October 31, 2012

Happy Halloween! I hope your day is filled with lots of tricks & treats. Today’s ‘Card of the Week’ is inspired by Halloween. I had a lot of fun making this card and I thought I’d take a few snap shots of how I made it and the tools I used to make it as well. I used some of the new stamps I bought at the Ontario, CA, Expo this month. I’m so glad I purchased this Halloween stamp set because it’s so cute—and I know I’ll use it year after year. I also used another set I purchase from the expo—except it’s not a Halloween set it’s just your standard ‘cute’ kind of set. I really love that one too; namely, because it has this super adorable doily banner stamp

I used a black cardstock for the A2 size card base, some newspaper patterned paper, and a strip of yellow and black patterned paper as well. I also used my doily banner stamp on top and accented the card with these elegant—yet spooky—chandelier stamps.
I love having a reason to use my distressing tools so I used my vintage photo distress ink (you can find these online, at Joanns, or Michaels). I really do adore how this vintage style technique looks.
Here I used black embossing powder and my heat tool to get this clean image, then I cut it out.
Next, I adhered the yellow and black strip, and added some more sentiments.
Next I used my adhesive foam to create the 3D effect. You can find these foam adhesives at Michaels, online, or Joanns.

There you have it, my Halloween card from start to finish. I hope you have great Halloween and if you're going out--stay safe!!!

Card of the Week & Lawnscaping Challenge Entry

Wednesday, August 22, 2012

Today’s card of the week is inspired by the Lawnscaping Challenge#40
This is my first time entering a project on this blog, and I hope I do well!  They’re challenge is to create paper using Lawn Fawn stamps—doesn’t that sound awesome?  I wanted to create something cute and fun, so I pulled out one of my favorite Lawn Fawn stamp sets: Love ‘n Breakfast and this is what I came up with.

What do you think of it?
