Handmade Stationary Set, A perfect Mother's Day gift
Thursday, May 8, 2014
Today I have really quick & easy tutorial for you! I made a video for the Lawn Fawn blog on how to make handmade stationary using the LF stamp set, Penelope's Blossoms. Scroll down to watch the video!
I hope you enjoyed this video! I wasn't able to post this past Monday, and Wednesday but I'm going to post tomorrow for 'One card a Week', so stay tuned.
Watercoloring with Distress Ink
Monday, April 21, 2014
I made a card over the weekend using this fun watercoloring
with distress ink technique; and, I had a few questions on Instagram as to how
I created the background so I thought it would be fun to create a quick
tutorial. This is a technique I learned from watching Kristina Werner’s Youtube
videos. I love watching her videos because I get to see all the new products
and even learn a few tips and tricks along the way. I’d definitely recommend subscribing
to her channel—it’s so fun! Click here for her Youtube Channel.
What I love about this distress watercolor cardstock is that
it’s already at an A2 size, so I don’t have to do any cutting and measuring—it’s
just ready to go. Not only that, there are also two textured sides to this
cardstock. One side is smooth and the other is like a traditionally textured
watercoloring paper. This card is thick and while it does warp when wet—it also
flattens again once it’s dry. Yay!
Step 2: Once I have all of my colors smudged on the slick
surface I misted the ink with water, using my mini mister. Adding water is the
fun part for me, haha.
Step 3: Simply take your watercolor cardstock and smear it
onto the ink and water mixture.
Step 4: Once you lift it you’ll notice a pool of ink at the bottom of the paper—simply dab that onto a piece of paper towel and set it aside to dry. It’s so simple! I love this technique.
What I’m using (I purchased all of these items at Joanns
& Michaels but you can also find them online:
-Distress Watercolor Cardstock
-Mini Mister
-Worn Lipstick Distress Ink
-Picked Raspberry Distress Ink
-Wild Honey Distress Ink
-The back of a shipping label (most crafters use the
craft mat but wax paper would also work, too)
Step 1: I’m using the back of a shipping label for this
project, Kristina uses the craft mat (you can purchase online or at Michaels)
but you can also use wax paper. You basically need something slick that won’t absorb
the water or ink. So, after placing the backing of a shipping label onto my work
surface I grabbed the distress ink colors I wanted to use for this card. I’m
using: Worn lipstick, picked raspberry, and wild honey. Next, I removed the cap
of the ink pad and apply ink to the slick surface, and repeated that with each
color.
Once it’s dry you can simply adhere it to your A2 size card
base and decorate it any way you’d like to. You can use white embossing powder
to create a simple card with a sweet sentiment or you can add images to it like
I did with my card. The fun possibilities are endless. I hope you enjoyed this
mini tutorial and if you have any other tutorials you’d like for me to create
feel free to ask!
Make A Wish
Friday, February 28, 2014
I’m so excited to share this card with you today because it
was so much fun to make; and, I’m hoping this will inspire some of you Lawn
Fawn stamp owners to make this adorable leprechaun. I think there are so many possibilities
with this idea; for instance, you can make tags, treat bags, and even layouts
for St. Patrick’s Day. I combined several LF stamp sets for this card—some new
and some old, and I’m so in love with how it turned out. I think my favorite
part of this card are the gold stars that I created using some gold embossing
powder and the new LF stamp set, Starry backdrops. That stamp set has a large
starry image that is perfect for so many different scenes and it also has the
elements to create an adorable rainbow.
For the coloring, I used distress inks: Broken china, and
mowed lawn. I colored in the little leprechaun using my Copic Markers, and for
the rainbow I used: Pale Tomato, butter bar, and soft pool, inks by Hero Arts.
Stamp sets used to create this card: Gnome sweet gnome, Hello Sunshine, Starry Backdrops, Hats off to you. I also used the large stitched
journaling die as the base of my card, you can view that awesome die set by
clicking, here.
I hope you enjoyed this colorful card! I wanted to post
something a little bit more awesome today, but since I have so many orders to
finished I had to make this a short and simple blog post. I’m mainly trying to
focus on keeping up with all of my posts’ even if they’re simple like this one.
Blogging keeps me sane, hehe. I hope you all have a great weekend!

New Lawn Fawn!
Thursday, February 20, 2014
To create this card I used the stamp sets Hello Sunshine,
and Let’s Roll. The die sets Spring Showers, and Scripty Hello; and, the HelloSunshine 6 x 6 paper pad.
The Hello Sunshine papers also come in the 12 x 12 size and
that collection kit comes with a few journaling cards, and some adorable flair.
I just love how this paper collection has a coordinating stamp set. As you can
see from my card above creating with both (the stamps and paper) means you’ll
get a whimsical card every single time!
To view the entire release had over to the Lawn Fawn blog,
by clicking here. On their blog you can find information on how to purchase new
stamps sets, and you will also find lots of inspiration! I hope you enjoyed
looking at my LF haul—and you can be sure I’ll be making something out of each
set and blogging about it, too!
Sweet Stamp Shop February Release!
Wednesday, February 12, 2014
It’s that time again! The Sweet Stamp Shop has come out with
another amazing collection of high quality photopolymer stamps. These new sets
are absolutely perfect on their own; however, they also work great with all of
their other stamps set; for instance, their Too Hip stamp set has great images
and lots of fun elements to design your card or layout around a specific theme.
It also goes perfectly with their stamp set—Foxy.
Lastly, I have this funny little birthday card. When I first
saw the stamp set, Stuck on You, I immediately thought to myself, “Hey, this
looks like the cactus is looking back at me”—even without the face stamped on
it. So I came up with the cute little message, “Honey, do these thorns make my
butt look big?” It may not seem to make sense but when I created this card I
thought it would be one of those “I’m getting old” kind of cards. I dunno—all I
know is this card was super fun to make. I’m so in love with this set now,
and I hope this card gets a few laughs, hehe.
Below are some of the sets that have been released for the
month of February; however, you can click here to view the full release on the
Sweet Stamp Shop blog. Go and check out all the awesomeness over there and you
can also view the other creations by other design team members, too. There is
so much inspiration on the SSS blog that you’ll be dying to place an order.
When I created the card above, I used the sets Too Hip,
Foxy, and Just the Basics. You’ll also notice that I used the mirror image
stamping technique on this card, to make the two hippos look like they were all
lovey-dovey, hehe. Then I used the cute elements from the Too Hip stamp set to
make one looks super girly and the other look like a hipster boy. I used the
heart image from the, Foxy, set, and the ‘Happy Valentine’s Day’ sentiment from
the Sweet Stamp Shop set—Just the basics.
I LOVE the set that I used to create this next card. We all love sequins right now—it’s so in style for papercrafters, but image how fun it would be to play with a sequins stamp?—and in different sizes. Not only does this stamp set, Sparkle and Shine, come with sequins images it also had these really create jewel images, too. This set is too much fun!
My next card is a perfect example of how, Too Hip, is a versatile
stamp set. I stamped some party hats on top of the fox and hippo and we have a
perfect little scene for a birthday card. Did I mention that the images in the
Too Hip stamp set fit perfectly with the fox from the, Foxy stamp set? Well
they do! Cute, right?
I hope you've enjoyed my cards and the new releases. Their new stamp sets are too cute, and I can't wait to make more projects with them. Take care!
New Stamps and New Card
Friday, January 17, 2014
I recently placed my first order over at the Mama Elephant
website, and I ordered the femme frames die set, and the Party Kit stamp set.
When I first discovered that stamp set I was in awe of how cute it was. I absolutely
love streamers and anything party related—so this stamp set was a must-have! It
has all the elements needed to create a really cute party themed card, or
layout but what I think I love the most about this stamp set is that it’s so versatile—you
can’t go wrong with a set that can be used for any kind of theme your making a
project for.
But the fun doesn't just stop there, I recently purchased a few new crafting tools and I was excited to give this envelope punch board a try. I didn't do my research on this product, however. If I’d of known there were problems with it I would have purchased the Stampin’ Up version—but I just put a note written on the back of this board with the new A2 size envelope measurements—so that should work. Overall, I’m happy with this new product and I can’t wait to design a zillion things with it, hehe.
The dies I purchased are a must-have as well (at least I
think so) it makes creating cards a cinch and I like that. I added a piece of
paper in between the die cuts for a little added interested and I’m really
loving the way it turned out.
I
used a wide variety of Hero Arts dye inks to achieve this pastel color palette and I thought—this card NEEDS gold in it—somehow. So, I thought I’d use the
small circle image (from the stamp set) to create this confetti look with gold embossing.
I think next time I’m going to try making some of the streamers in gold, too.
When I order stamps from companies I’m always curious to
find out how they package there items. So many great companies have such cute
packaging—and Mama Elephant was no different. I loved that they used Kraft
wrapping and their custom sticker to package this all together. I thought that
was super cute.
Even though this stamp set has a create selection of
sentiments—I thought I’d mix it up a bit by using the Sentiment Sampler set by
Paper Smooches. I love that set; and, I think it’s perfect because it can be
used in so many ways and for so many different things. I created this banner by
hand using my paper trimmer, scissors, and bone folder.
I’m also super excited to send this card out. I recently got
a pen pal, and I’m going to send her this card—it’ll be the first of many and I
hope she loves it. She might actually be reading this right now…but I
promise all the other cards will be surprises, LOL!
Take care lovely readers and have a great weekend!
