Day 4 of the Fawny Holiday Inspiration Week

Thursday, November 13, 2014

Hello everyone! It's another day in the Fawny Holiday Inspiration week--a week full of awesome cards, videos, and giveaways. You get a chance to win a stamp set ever day, this week, on the Lawn Fawn blog. You can click here to be directed to their page for your chance to win.

I created a card this week on Monday (you can view it here) but today I'm making a video and sharing a fun DIY project. This mini snow globe is simple, clean, and easy to mass produce if you plan on giving them away as little stocking stuffers; or, even just have a fun craft day with the gals! I found this plastic picture snow globes at my local Michaels craft store--but I'm sure you can find them at so many other craft and hobby stores, too. These are the types of snow globes that one would typically place a picture in; however, as a crafter I thought it would be fun to create the snow globe insert pictures out of stamps by my favorite stamp company! I hope you enjoy this video as much as I enjoyed making it!

My First 5x7 Greeting Card

Friday, December 6, 2013

I've made a few 5x7 invitations but I've never actually made a greeting card before, and while I was sitting at my desk I was thinking of trying something new. I've made the circle card, 3x3 cards—but never the 5x7. So, I thought today would be a perfect time to try it. I used my trusty Lawn Fawn stamps for this card (of course, hehe). It’s so easy to make an adorable card with their stamps.
Right now I’m noticing that snowy blue skies are popular in the papercrafting world—and I am pretty obsessed with it as well. I love using my distress inks to create such beautiful skies, like I did with this greeting card. I don’t have that many distress inks right now, but with only two shades of blue I was able to create a sky background that looks as though the sun is setting—or at least I hope I pulled it off to look that way, haha.
Since I was working with a much larger space then I’m used to I decided to create a little scene using some of the critters from the set, Critters in the snow. I added in the gnome from, gnome sweet gnome, and I also used the tree from the set, critters in the forest. The little, ‘To: Santa’, card is from the set, cozy Christmas; and, the Santa hats are from the set, hats off to you. I used my Copic markers to color everything in, and I’ve been watching lots of Youtube videos to learn blending techniques—and I think I’m getting better and better each time.

I actually really like holding a big card like this one, in my hands. It felt heavy and as though I was holding something truly precious because it was handmade. Have a fun and crafty weekend!

Card of the Week, and Lawnscaping Challenge No.64

Wednesday, August 21, 2013

I recently made this mini-greeting card; namely, because I’ve been feeling like it’s been so long since I made a card just for fun—and it was about time I did! Sometimes I forget that I need to step away from making things for my shop, and make something for myself that can keep my creativity flowing. I feel that, that is an important thing to do—especially if I want to keep on creating new things for my shop.

I also noticed that Lawnscaping is currently hosting a fun challenge where you create a card using distress inks, and since I have a few distress inks I thought I’d give the challenge and try. I’m not too sure that I’ll win though, because while I did use 3 different distress inks you can’t really notice it that much. When I was making this card though, I just had fun and didn’t worry too much about how much or how little I was using distress ink—I mainly just wanted to have some fun.
So, as you know I’m a huge fan of Lawn Fawn so of course I had to use my LF: stamps, paper, and twine! Here’s how I made the card: I cut a piece of card stock at 9 1/2” x 3 1/2”, and scored it length wise at 4 3/4” and set it aside. Next I cut a piece of yellow pattern paper from my Pink Lemonadepetite paper pack by LF, and cute it at 4 3/4" x 3 1/2" and set that aside as well. Next I grabbed my LF stamp sets: a birdie told me, say cheese, and critters in the forest and stamped out two of the Polaroid image, one fox, and one small text bubble on a piece of white card stock. Next I cut out the picture part of the polaroid image on one of the two images, and stamped the stump, and the tree as the background. Next I stamped the same images onto a piece of post-it paper and cut those out to use them as a mask so I could apply my distress ink colors, Broken China, and Peacock Features. Next I used a LF stamp and the distress ink to apply the stars in background. Once that was finished I removed the masks’ and colored in the tree and stump. Next I colored in the fox image, and the text bubble, then cut them out leaving a white boarder—I also cut out the full size polaroid image, too. Once all of that was cut out I adhered everything together, and applied some, Antique linen distress ink all around the polaroid image to make it look a bit vintage. Using the same Antique linen ink I grabbed a camera image from another one of my LF stamp sets and stamped that image three times at the bottom of the pattern paper to emphasize the polaroid picture. Next I wrapped some mint LF twine around the pattern paper, and adhered the image to the yellow panel using some foam adhesive, then adhered the whole thing to my card base, and it was finished!

Once this was done, I was so happy with it. I can’t wait to give it out. Isn’t it cute?

DIY, Fourth of July Cupcake Toppers

Wednesday, June 26, 2013

Hello! Today I have a fun video over at the Lawn Fawn blog, you can view the full post over at their blog by click here; or you can view it below. The stamp set and dies I used for this project are perfect for this Holiday! I can't wait to make more of these for our 4th of July, BBQ. Let me know what you think about it in the comments.

A Congrats Card with the Simon Says Stamp Card Kit, and Lawn Fawn Stamps

Monday, June 3, 2013

I recently won a Simon Says Stamp collection from Aida’s blog, Love of Cards. I was super excited when I found out I won because I’ve never won a giveaway before; and, I’ve never used Simon Says Stamp products before—I’ve always wanted to give them a try. This April 2012 card kit comes with a variety of products by several manufactures’, and one of my favorite things about this kit was that it came with Lawn Fawn paper—paper that can’t be purchased anymore—so, actually that’s another reason why I was so happy to win this, hehe.

When I found out that one of my friends got engaged I thought it would be a great time to make her a card, using the Lawn Fawn, Bright Side paper, with a combination of other Lawn Fawn stamps and dies. I used the Lawn Fawn stamp set, Blissful Botanicals, to create this beautiful floral arrangement—and Blissful Botanicals has been a set that I’ve always wanted to buy but I always kept in wish list, until recently when I decided I just couldn’t’ wait any longer, and I ordered it! Now that I’ve used it I can’t imagine how I went so long without ordering it, hehe. It’s such a perfect set.

While I used Blissful Botanicals to create the floral background, I also used the stamp set, Home Sweet Home to create the banner and ‘congrats’ sentiment; and, since I know she loves owls I thought I’d grab my, Critters in the Forest, stamp set and add it in somehow, and I placed this little fella’ right on top of the banner—which I think came out so cute. Next, I thought it need just a little something more, so I used my, A birdie told me, stamp set to add the text bubble that reads: Woo-hoo. So cute right? I know she’ll love it, and I’m hoping she doesn't read this blog post because then the surprise will be ruined, hehe.

Card of the Week is back and my computer is still down...

Friday, May 24, 2013

I thought today would be a great day to bring back my 'Card of the week' posts' because my computer is still down and I don't have a way to edit photo's at home anymore (until my computer is fixed). I made this card during the week and I had to wait until today to edit it on my boyfriends computer. Even though I've been feeling a bit stressed because my computer is totally dead, I still managed to find some peace while creating this card. I used the newly released 'Blue Skies' stamp set by Lawn Fawn and the matching dies, too. I seriously had so much fun making this card, and for some reason it's my favorite! At the beginning of the week I purchased some new distress inks and used them to create the blue sky in the background. I also used a masking technique with the clouds, and a tone on tone look by using the same distress ink to add the stars. I think I'm going to save this card for the new craft room I'm designing for myself. I'd like to have a shelf of all the things I can make on display! Let me know what you think of this card, I'd love to hear your thoughts. Have a great weekend.

Vlog—Graduation Card from Start to Finish!

Monday, May 20, 2013

I made a quick video showing how I made this super cute Graduation card, using the new stamp set named, ‘Blue Skies’ by Lawn Fawn, and the coordinating Lawn Cuts. I think making videos of me paper-crafting is starting to become my newest obsession, hehe. I really like making videos of my process, and I hope that it inspires all of my readers to create something too! Well, I hope you enjoy watching how I made this card; and, don't forget to leave me a comment letting me know what you think.

Handmade Housewarming Party Invitations

Wednesday, April 24, 2013

I just bought this awesome stamp set from Lawn Fawn named, Home Sweet Home, on Friday, and it already got here! So thought I’d make something cute in between orders (I couldn't help myself) using this super adorable set. My idea was to create a really fun housewarming invitation with bright colors and an R.S.V.P. reply card as well. I also had the idea to create a side pocket on the card and I think it came out pretty well. I plan on making more cards with pockets in the future. Side note—if anyone would like me to do a tutorial on how I created the pocket, let me know. But back to the card design—I used all a lot of my Lawn Fawn stamps to create this invitation; for example, the set I used for the R.S.V.P. post card was created with their set, You've got Mail, and I also used their alphabet stamps sets: Quinn’s ABCs, and Smitty’s ABCs to create the sentiments. Cute right?
I didn't go through each step of my process for this invitation—A: because I’m lazy, and B: because I really need to get back to finishing orders. But I’m hoping that the pictures I've shown kind of give you an idea of how I did it. Let me know what you think. I’d love to hear from you!

Easter Table Decor Ideas

Friday, March 29, 2013

I can’t believe Easter is already here. I remember last year when I made a colorful last minute Easter cake for my blog (click here for that post), and when I think about how far I've come since then—it puts a smile on my face. I've gotten more readers, customers, and friends since then; and, that’s so exciting to me. Today I wanted to share a few super cute I ideas I had for your Easter party preparations—and I’m using my favorite stamps and paper, by Lawn Fawn, for the samples. I was thinking that it would be nice to have a whimsical feel to all the decorations on our Easter day dinner table; with paper treat pouches sitting on top of each place setting, a simple paper flag for the straws, and matching toppers for the dessert. Doesn't that sound cute? Well, I’ll show you how you can make the treat pouches and you can choose any stamps and paper to match your decor.
For the treat pouch: I took a piece of Lawn Fawn card stock (click here to view the collection), and I cut it down to 7.5” x 5”.
I than placed it onto my scoring board, and applied a score mark at 1/2”, and folded that over using my bone folder.
Next, apply some adhesive to the flap.
Next, you can take one end of the card stock and fold it over to the flap with the adhesive, and adhere, making sure not to crease the rounded end.
Once that has been done, you can apply some glue to the bottom of the treat pouch like so…
 …and close.
Fill with treats.
Next, apply some more glue. Much like you did on the other end, and seal in the opposite direction.
This is what you should end up with.
Optional: Use serrated edge scissors to cut a decorative edge.
Here are the steps for how I decorated the treat pouch with a circle embellishment but I won’t bother with the details, because I’m sure if you plan on making your own, you’ll come up with something different :-)
That’s it. Wasn't that so much fun? What you can also do is use a scallop punch using pattern paper to create some matching cupcake toppers, and a cute flag for your paper straws. I love how these treat bags can be used for any occasion, really; such as, weddings, and birthday parties. Are you planning on having an Easter dinner?

Card of the Week

Wednesday, February 13, 2013

Here is my card of the week. I’m using a super awesome stamp set created by, Lawn Fawn, named: Admit One. This stamp set can be used for so many things—including Valentine’s Day. This card doesn't have the traditional red and pink colors in it—but it still works as a V-Day card with the, “You make my world go round”, sentiment. I used the carnival ticket stamp to create the background paper; and, I also used my wonderful Copic markers to color them in. Overall, I really enjoy this card and I can’t wait to give it to my boyfriend! I hope he isn't reading this right now, haha.

Card of the Week—making colorful cards with paper—No markers needed

Wednesday, February 6, 2013

There was a time when I didn’t have any art markers at all, and used to be so jealous of those card makers that had tons of Copic markers, hehe, but I’ve never let it stop me from creating cards—it simply taught me how to get creative with what I had at the time. Using paper to create vibrant cards is perfect way stay in the card making game—if one doesn't have any art markers yet. My collection of Copic markers is still very small but it’s growing, I usually buy one at the time—whenever I can get my hands on a 50% coupon from my local craft shop.
For this card I used the new petite paper pad named, Pink Lemonade, by Lawn Fawn; and, I also used one of their recently released stamp sets, Here’s the Scoop. If you’d like to purchase any of the new Lawn Fawn stamps, stickers, twine, paper, or dies, the release date is: February  21st. I’m so excited! Oh, and I almost forgot, I used one of my favorite alphabet sets for the, ‘I love you…This much’ sentiment: Smitty’s ABCs, if you’d like to purchase this set or ‘Here’s the Scoop’, click here and here.
To achieve the clear scoop image on the green and yellow polka dot card stock, I used this clear embossing powder by recollections. This can be found at any Michaels.
I’m also in the process of creating new cards for my shop, and I wanted something simple yet sweet for this particular design. So, I used this super cute popsicle stamp on some cream card stock, colored it in with a frost blue Copic marker, cut it out, and adhered it to my white cardstock, and added my sentiment using, Quinn’s ABCs, and Smitty’s ABCs. If you’d like to purchase these sets you can click here and here.
Thank you so much for stoppin’ by for another card of the week, and let me know what you think in the comments! Can’t wait to read them :-p
