July Mama Elephant Stampede, Blessed

Wednesday, July 15, 2015

Welcome to the Mama Elephant Release Design Team blog hop!

Our newest release is now live and available for purchase in the store!

All of the ME releases are simply adorable, right? Well this July collection of stamps is no exception. Today I've created a card using the new sentiment set, Blessed. I just adore this set because it can be used in so many different ways, from sending comforting card to a just because card. Endless possibilities! I paired this new set, Blessed, with the stamp set, Charmed from last months release. Blessed, is a set that you'll need for your stamp collection the cursive fonts are so pretty and the coordinating sentiments in this set will make for some really beautiful cards.

Sorry You Caught A Bug

Tuesday, January 13, 2015

It's cold and flu season, ugh. So many of use are so sick around this time of year and I thought it would be really fun to create this adorable "Sorry your caught a bug" card. I used the new Lawn Fawn stamp set, Bugs and Kisses for this 4 bar size card. Since I myself was sick with the flu when I create this card (I never miss a deadline, hehe) I wanted to keep it CAS--but I still wanted it to be pretty. So I went to my go-to technique--watercoloring! I took a piece of Tim Holtz watercolor cardstock and a few shades of blue and green watercolors and created this background panel. While that was drying I cut out the 4 bar sized card base, and also die cut the stitched circle using the, Stitched Circles stackables dies. Next I took the large bug stamp with the eye lashes--I love the girly look, and I stamped that onto the center of the circle. Next I grabbed an older stamp set, On the Mend and used the smaller bug image and stamped that right on top. I added some green copic coloring and then assembled everything together. I finished the card off with some Pretty Pink Posh sequins and that was it!

For more details and links for the products used to create this card you can head over to the Lawn Fawn blog by clicking here. I hope you enjoyed this CAS card!

Thinking of You

Monday, June 23, 2014

Last night, before bed, I had the urge to get out my watercolors and create something beautiful. I didn’t know what I was going to create—a card, table number, or just a big mess. I’ve been really wanted to sit down and let loose with watercoloring using a brush instead of my usual approach, which is using distress ink and simply smashing my paper in it, hehe. I have a palette with lots of great shades on it and I use a few of them for this card.
This was also the first time I attempted the iron off embossing technique but I totally failed at it. I don’t know exactly what I did wrong but the computer paper stuck to the embossing instead of removing it. Do any of you (who have tried this) know what I could have done wrong? I had the iron on a low setting, with the steam feature, off. I was wondering if it was my embossing powder. I wasn’t using the WOW embossing powder that I’ve seen most crafters use for this technique—so maybe that could be it? But anyways, since that didn’t work out I had to die cut that piece off of the card; and, instead I simply stamped the ‘thinking of you’ sentiment on a piece of white cardstock and inlayed that into the card. I did the same with the bird and the heart image as well. I actually really like how this card turned out even though I ran into a little problem with the iron off embossing. I think the pink text bubble stands out more.
I used nothing but Lawn Fawn products to design this card. I used the stamp set, Chit Chat, and its coordinating dies. Love you s’more (the “I love you”, sentiment), and the Lets Polka mixed sequins.
I’m so happy I took the time to create this last night, even though I was super tired. I feel like I can relax a little now that I’ve got that out of my system, lol.

Card of the Week--Mommy to Bee

Monday, November 4, 2013

Even though it’s so gray and cloudy today in Los Angeles County, I was still able get a little sunshine from this bright and colorful card I made using some of my Lawn Fawn stamps, and paper. Nothing makes me happier than using bright and happy card stock—plus Lawn Fawn stamps always manage to put a smile on my face all on their own anyway, hehe. When I was creating this card I was a little bit worried that I might be using too much black and yellow combos—but in the end I really like how it turned out. I think one of my favorite things on this card (texture wise) is this chevron screen printed clear overlay that I received in one of the Simon Says Stamp collection kits. If you’re interested in it you can find it in the SSS April 2012 collection kit (but it might be sold out). It was my first time using an overlay on a card and I think I've fallen in love with them. I’d really love to get my hands on more, in different patterns and colors.
I always love ‘punny’ cards and I thought this bumble bee bear would make for a cute ‘Mommy to Bee’ card. To create the sentiment I used the stamp set, Milo’s ABC’s, by Lawn Fawn. This set is great! The other stamps sets I used for this card are: Critters in Costume, Home sweet home, and A birdietold me. I’m also using the beautiful yellow and white polka dot pattern paper from the LF, Pink Lemonade petite paper pack which I think goes perfect wit this theme—and matches great with the clear chevron overlay.
If you follow me on Instagram you already know that I purchased three new copic markers and I used them to color in the bear portion of the bee image. I’m still not that great at blending and shading but I’m workin’ on it, hehe.
Other elements I used when making this card are the super cool Lawn Fawn trimmings, Silver Sparkle single cord. I love the silver in this twine, I think it’s so pretty. I also purchased a ton of sequins lately because I want to start incorporating them into my cards, cupcake toppers, and other projects. So I have lots of it now. I hope you enjoyed this ‘Card of the Week’, and if you have any questions let me know in the comments. Have a great day!
