It hasn't been that long since I created my last pocket scrapbooking page and I just had to make another one! I'm really falling in love with the scrapbooking process and today I'm giving 12 x 12 layouts a try. I'm still not too sure what the protocol is for scrapbooking but I thought it would be cute to create a cover page with my picture on it and a little note about what my goal is for my scrapbook.
I wanted this layout to have a black and white picture of me but also have lots of pops of color with the embellishments and paper. The base for this 12 x 12 layout is one of the new pieces of pattern paper from the new (not yet released) Let's Polka, Mon Amie collection by Lawn Fawn. This new paper line is due to be released mid February. I love the mint color and mini hearts on this sheet of pattern paper and I thought it would work well with the Project Life foil kit which has lots of light pastely tones. If you noticed from the images above I also tried out the Project Life Color Magic kit--this kit comes with papers that are meant to be hand colored, by you, using the coordinating sprays or with watercolor. Since I like using distress inks to watercolor I thought I'd give them a try on the Color Magic Kit and I really love the results. The 3x4" cards have more of a watercolor cardstock feel and the 4x6" cards have more of a cardstock feel so I wasn't sure how the larger cards would react with the distress ink but it turns out they work so well with them. There was hardly any warping, too, which is great! I used the embellishments from both kits and I love all of the gold foil accents on this page.
I don't really worry too much about whether I'm scrapbooking the right way; or, if there is a certain way this should all be done. I think for the most part I just want to have fun with it and simply document my life from here on out. What I also love about this is that it's just for me--I'm not selling these I'm simply creating this pages for me and that's so fun!

Get Ready for New Lawn Fawn Products
Monday, February 4, 2013
I’m super excited to share the some of the new Lawn Fawn
petite paper pads with you all today! I’m a huge fan of petite/mini paper pads
and I couldn’t be happier to have some from Lawn Fawn. Kelly Marie, over at
Lawn Fawn, mentioned that one of the new paper pads, Pink Lemonade, was inspired by her favorite summer time drink—and
they’re so cute. I love every single page in these pads, and I’ve also shared a
few snap shots of my favorites below but to watch a video of, Kelly Marie,
talking about her new paper pad collections, stamps, twine, and die cuts, click
here.
You all know I’m a huge fan of Lawn Fawn, and I had to have
this adorable new stamp set, Here’s the Scoop. This set is already available and
to view it click here. This set is perfect for creating Valentine’s Day cards,
tags, and labels but one of the many great things about Lawn Fawn stamps is
that they’re so versatile and can be used for many other occasions—all you need
is a little imagination. I’m going to be making some new cards with this set very soon
and I can’t wait to show you!
Lawn Fawn, also came out with new Lawn trimmings, in a variety
of colors; however, one of my favorites is this ombre twine—ah! It’s so
amazing! I made a super cute tag using this twine and a few sheets from the,
Pink Lemonade 6 x6 paper pad—I’ll share how I made it below. This twine and all
the new paper pads, die cuts, and stamps will be available on their website
very soon—so keep your eyes and hears open, hehe.
Here’s how I made the tag:
I’m so excited about all the products coming from Lawn Fawn. I’ll
be the first in line as soon as everything goes on sale—just as I was during
the last release of products, LOL. I kept refreshing the web page as soon as
the clocked turned midnight so I could buy all the new things they had to
offer. I hope you enjoyed viewing everything and thanks for stoppin’ by. Let me
know what you think by leaving a comment :-p
P.S. Feel free to click the following links to view images and samples of some more NEW Lawn Fawn products that are on their way: Stamps, more stamps, and coordinating die cuts.
Card of the Week--I Love You
Wednesday, January 9, 2013
It’s been a while since I’ve had a card of the week post;
and, I needed one! You all know I need to create at least one card a week, for
fun, to stay level headed. While I was sitting at my craft desk, I was just
gazing at all the stamps, trimmings, ink, and paper I had and I thought I
really should use it, haha. Lately I’ve been making really simple one layer
cards and this time around I wanted to make something a bit more intricate. So,
I pulled out some stamps I’d recently purchased but never used and I came up
with this super adorable Valentine’s Day theme card. I really, really love it
too.
As you can see in the above images, there are hearts stamped
onto a piece of kraft card stock; and, to achieve this tone on tone look I
simply use my versa mark stamp pad, which is used to create this water mark
effect or to be used with embossing powder. In this instance I used a
recollections heart background stamp that I purchased from Michaels with the
versa mark ink and stamped that all around the card.
I also bought this really cute mini paper pad, named With
Love, by Recollections. There is such a wide variety of really cute pattern
paper. I used the ledger paper for this card as you can see—and btw, ledger
paper is my FAV and it was in pink. I was so excited about that, haha.
I also used some of my Lawn Trimmings, by Lawn Fawn. Their
trimmings are so awesome and made with such great quality. I also used this distress ink by, Tim Holtz, in Vintage photo.
For the bird image, I used this stamp Luv Ya stamp set by,
Inkadinkado. I simply stamped the image onto a piece of high quality cream card
stock, cut it out leaving a boarder, and applied some vintage stain around the
edges.
To color in the hearts I used this Copic Marker, color:RV11. I’m so in love with my new set of Copic markers!
For the ‘Flying by to say’ sentiment I used this mini set, Flyingby, by Lawn Fawn. This set is so wonderful and I love it because it can be used
for so many things.
I also used this set, A birdie told me, by Lawn Fawn to
create the text bubble background in red ink. I felt these text bubbles would
work really well with the whole ‘Flying by to SAY’ theme, hehe.
Lastly, I used this white gelly pen to create the faux stitches’
around the boarder. What do you think? Isn’t it cute?
Card of the Week—Pregnancy Announcement Card and Lawnscaping Entry
Wednesday, October 3, 2012
I’m super excited to share this card I made for the Lawnscaping Challenge # 43, which is a texture challenge. I must use texture in
my card—and I used a lot of it, LOL! At first I wasn’t really sure what I was
going to do, but I knew I wanted to use my Cuttlebug and some tissue paper.
When I had the idea of how I wanted to make this card I
thought it would work well as a pregnancy announcement card, or a party menu
card—where it can sit on the dinner table just waiting to be opened. I love it
so much and I hope you do too! If you’d like to see how this card was made
check out the images I’ve provided for you below:
The tools
Step 1: Cut ivory card stock at a standard A2 size and use
it as a pattern to cut out 10 sheets of two toned tissue paper.
Step 2: Fold and prepare into a mini pom-pom, and set aside.
Step 3: Cut two pieces of baby blue card stock (with room
for a boarder) then run through the Cuttlebug using embossing/texture folder.
Step 4: Apply ribbon down the middle.
Step 5: Using white embossing powder create your message
like so:
Step 6: Spray the pom-pom with perfume for a little extra
sweetness (optional).
Step 7: Apply a large zot to the back of the mini pom-pom
and adhere to the card. Next add the inner insert and you’re finished.
I hope you enjoyed this card. I know I had a lot of fun
making it :-D
