Halloween Cupcake Toppers

Thursday, October 31, 2013

Happy Halloween! Today I thought it would be cute to make some cupcake toppers using the Lawn Fawn stamp set, Critters in Costume! I think this set is so adorable, and I love that these stamps can be used year round. For instance, the super hero owl could be used as a birthday card. I can't wait to find more things to do with this set. What I did to make these toppers would stamp the images onto a white piece of paper, color them in and cut them out using some scissors. You could; however, use the matching dies that coordinate with this stamp set and you can find them by clicking here. Once they were all cut out I simply adhered them to a wooden food pick and once they were dry I placed them into my cupcakes!

Easter Table Decor Ideas

Friday, March 29, 2013

I can’t believe Easter is already here. I remember last year when I made a colorful last minute Easter cake for my blog (click here for that post), and when I think about how far I've come since then—it puts a smile on my face. I've gotten more readers, customers, and friends since then; and, that’s so exciting to me. Today I wanted to share a few super cute I ideas I had for your Easter party preparations—and I’m using my favorite stamps and paper, by Lawn Fawn, for the samples. I was thinking that it would be nice to have a whimsical feel to all the decorations on our Easter day dinner table; with paper treat pouches sitting on top of each place setting, a simple paper flag for the straws, and matching toppers for the dessert. Doesn't that sound cute? Well, I’ll show you how you can make the treat pouches and you can choose any stamps and paper to match your decor.
For the treat pouch: I took a piece of Lawn Fawn card stock (click here to view the collection), and I cut it down to 7.5” x 5”.
I than placed it onto my scoring board, and applied a score mark at 1/2”, and folded that over using my bone folder.
Next, apply some adhesive to the flap.
Next, you can take one end of the card stock and fold it over to the flap with the adhesive, and adhere, making sure not to crease the rounded end.
Once that has been done, you can apply some glue to the bottom of the treat pouch like so…
 …and close.
Fill with treats.
Next, apply some more glue. Much like you did on the other end, and seal in the opposite direction.
This is what you should end up with.
Optional: Use serrated edge scissors to cut a decorative edge.
Here are the steps for how I decorated the treat pouch with a circle embellishment but I won’t bother with the details, because I’m sure if you plan on making your own, you’ll come up with something different :-)
That’s it. Wasn't that so much fun? What you can also do is use a scallop punch using pattern paper to create some matching cupcake toppers, and a cute flag for your paper straws. I love how these treat bags can be used for any occasion, really; such as, weddings, and birthday parties. Are you planning on having an Easter dinner?

Glitter Cupcake toppers for any Party Theme

Monday, September 24, 2012

Hello and Happy Monday!  I’m super excited to share my new cupcake toppers with everyone. I’ve been selling heart shaped glitter cupcake toppers in my shop for a while now and they’ve recently become of my top sellers of the month. Since they were doing so well I thought I’d create some circular shaped toppers and have them available in every glitter color I could get my hands on. I’m a sucker for shinny things + party decorations, haha. What I love most about this listing is that you the buyer can mix and match the colors they need to coordinate with their party theme; for instance,  they can select all 12 (or more) toppers in a single color; or, they can select a variety of colors that fit the theme of their party! One of my favorite combinations is the rose pink, neon yellow, and hot pink combo that my little sister named ‘Pink Lemonade’. How cute is that name? Here’s a picture of it:
Below are some other combinations that I’ve put together to show buyers what they can do with mix and matching these adorable cupcake toppers. I just can’t wait until I’m hosting another party so that I can use these. Namely because at times it’s hard to get your hands on that ‘perfect’ topper—but these can go with any theme! Here are some more pictures:

I’ve also been working on a few different cupcake topper designs and here they are:

What do you think? Leave me a comment letting me know which set is your favorite and I’ll mail sample set of 12 for free! (Applies only to U.S. and Canada readers) No need to be a follower + the first person wins!!!! Ready? Go!

(P.S. don’t forget to leave contact information for me in your comment)

D.I.Y.—Day of the Dead Cupcake Toppers

Friday, September 14, 2012

September is half-way over and Halloween is quickly approaching. I have a really cute, affordable, and fun D.I.Y. project using some stamps I purchased from my local craft store for only $1.00! I’ve mentioned before that, Joanns Fabric & Craft stores always has new holiday themed stamps every year and I always love to collect them all. This year one of stamp sets that got me super excited was the Day of the Dead skull and bones. Typically these acrylic stamps don’t produce a clean crisp image with regular black ink so I decided to purchase some black embossing powder for this particular project instead. I remember when I was a novice papercrafter and I’d pass through the isle with all the little embossing powders and just marvel at the variety of colors; and how cute the bottles were—but I never actually knew what they were for. Now that I know what they can do I’m obsessed with them!
Step 1: Place the stamp on your acrylic block
Step 2: Generously dab your stamp onto the versa mark ink pad
Step 3: Stamp the image onto your card stock
…You can kinda see the water mark here if you look closely
Step 4: Apply your black embossing powder
Step 5: Shake it off
Step 6: Apply heat
Amazing right?!
Step 7: Color-in using markers, color pencils, or any other medium you prefer
Step 8: Cut the image out
Step 9: Apply to wooden pick and cover the back with matching skull (double sided)

And you’re finished! Wasn’t that fun?
