Bugs, Kisses, and Birthday Wishes Tag--Video

Tuesday, January 27, 2015

Today happy to share another video I made for Lawn Fawn. In this video I'm creating a fun birthday tag using the stamp set, Bugs and Kisses (along with a few other stamp sets and dies). This stamp set is so adorable with all of the bug images and sweet sentiments; and, it's perfect for Valentine's Day. However, this set is also great to use for different types of occasions; such as, birthday tags, cupcake toppers, invitations, and so many other things. With the help of other stamp sets and even alpha bet stamp sets you can create any sentiment you'd like and simply use the sweet little bug images along with your custom saying.

What I've wanted to do since I got my hands on the Stitched rectangle dies is create an oversized tag with them. If you're planning on gifting a huge package/box, creating an oversized tag is a great idea--and the bigger the tag the more room you have to create an adorable little scene, like I did on the tag shown above.

For more details on the products used for this tag go ahead and watch the video. In the video description there is a list of the items used; or, you could also click here to view this blog post on the Lawn Fawn blog.

I hope you've enjoyed this post and thank you so much for stopping by!

Scrapbook Layout using Lawn Fawn Paper and Project Life Kits

Wednesday, January 21, 2015

It hasn't been that long since I created my last pocket scrapbooking page and I just had to make another one! I'm really falling in love with the scrapbooking process and today I'm giving 12 x 12 layouts a try. I'm still not too sure what the protocol is for scrapbooking but I thought it would be cute to create a cover page with my picture on it and a little note about what my goal is for my scrapbook.

I wanted this layout to have a black and white picture of me but also have lots of pops of color with the embellishments and paper. The base for this 12 x 12 layout is one of the new pieces of pattern paper from the new (not yet released) Let's Polka, Mon Amie collection by Lawn Fawn. This new paper line is due to be released mid February. I love the mint color and mini hearts on this sheet of pattern paper and I thought it would work well with the Project Life foil kit which has lots of light pastely tones. If you noticed from the images above I also tried out the Project Life Color Magic kit--this kit comes with papers that are meant to be hand colored, by you, using the coordinating sprays or with watercolor. Since I like using distress inks to watercolor I thought I'd give them a try on the Color Magic Kit and I really love the results. The 3x4" cards have more of a watercolor cardstock feel and the 4x6" cards have more of a cardstock feel so I wasn't sure how the larger cards would react with the distress ink but it turns out they work so well with them. There was hardly any warping, too, which is great! I used the embellishments from both kits and I love all of the gold foil accents on this page.

I don't really worry too much about whether I'm scrapbooking the right way; or, if there is a certain way this should all be done. I think for the most part I just want to have fun with it and simply document my life from here on out. What I also love about this is that it's just for me--I'm not selling these I'm simply creating this pages for me and that's so fun!

My First CHA--Pictures Via iPhone

Monday, January 19, 2015

I went to CHA last week for the first time and it was so much fun! I worked at the Lawn Fawn booth with other Design Team members and Fawnies from the LFHQ. It was the 2015 Mega show in Anaheim, CA--right across the street from Disneyland. There were so many awesome business at this show and I got to meet Kristina Werner, and I met face to face with the owners of so many awesome companies. Working with the fawnies at the booth was something I'll never forget and another great thing about getting a chance to work CHA was getting to see all the demos for new products that are coming for 2015; for instance, the new Minc foiling machine, the new color distress ink by Tim Holtz, some of the new Project Life kits and mini kits, and so many other awesome things!

I wish I had taken my DSLR but I knew it wouldn't be a good idea since I was there to work--so I thought I'd just use my iPhone to capture a few moments here and there. I can't wait to print all of these pictures out and create a scrapbook page with them all!

New Flutter By Coordinating Dies--With Video

Saturday, January 17, 2015

Today I'm sharing a video using an older stamp set, Flutter by, however the the dies that I'm using are from the newest collection of stamps and dies. Lawn Fawn is starting to release coordinating dies for older stamp sets little by little--at the request of so many of you! Isn't that great? I know I love it. I'm also sharing how I go about using Distress ink for watercoloring. This isn't a new technique but it's one that I love.

This card is clean and simple; however, this stamp set and new coordinating dies are a great way to dress up anything from a card, layouts, and even party decor. I could totally image these flowers as cupcake toppers for a tea party; or, perhaps on a Mother's Day layout, too.

I hope you enjoyed this video and for more details on the products I used feel free to head on over to the Lawn Fawn blog by clicking here

Sorry You Caught A Bug

Tuesday, January 13, 2015

It's cold and flu season, ugh. So many of use are so sick around this time of year and I thought it would be really fun to create this adorable "Sorry your caught a bug" card. I used the new Lawn Fawn stamp set, Bugs and Kisses for this 4 bar size card. Since I myself was sick with the flu when I create this card (I never miss a deadline, hehe) I wanted to keep it CAS--but I still wanted it to be pretty. So I went to my go-to technique--watercoloring! I took a piece of Tim Holtz watercolor cardstock and a few shades of blue and green watercolors and created this background panel. While that was drying I cut out the 4 bar sized card base, and also die cut the stitched circle using the, Stitched Circles stackables dies. Next I took the large bug stamp with the eye lashes--I love the girly look, and I stamped that onto the center of the circle. Next I grabbed an older stamp set, On the Mend and used the smaller bug image and stamped that right on top. I added some green copic coloring and then assembled everything together. I finished the card off with some Pretty Pink Posh sequins and that was it!

For more details and links for the products used to create this card you can head over to the Lawn Fawn blog by clicking here. I hope you enjoyed this CAS card!

My First Scrapbook Page

Monday, January 12, 2015

Just recently I realized that I really should be documenting my story. When I look back on my life and all the memories I don’t want them to be lost in cyber space because they’re stuck in my phone or on my hard drive. I take tons of pictures—all the time. If I’m not taking pictures with my phone I’m using my DSLR to capture some of life’s precious moments, and I realized it—I never print any of my pictures. I imagined myself looking back on my life with maybe children or grandchildren, and not have scrapbooks or any kind of picture book scared me a little. I want to be able to show younger generations scrapbooks of how I used to look in the good ol’ days. I mean our current generation takes pictures and selfies about a thousand times a day, “so why not print them and cherish them?”, I said to myself.

I have to be honest though, I never thought I’d ever be a “scrapper” I was never really drawn to it but recent trips to Michaels have stopped me dead in my tracks as I’d walk the isles of Heidi Swapp and Project life. The papers, colors, and overall designs these two businesses are creating have really been catching me eye. I’d think to myself, “That’s my kind of style” but then I’d realize that I’m not a scrapper by any means so what would I do with these tools? Those thoughts stuck in my mind for a while until I realized—Yes! I should be keeping record of these moments. I treasure every moment I have with loves one and friends so I should express that with scrapbooking.

On my latest trip to Michaels I purchased a 12x12 photo album, some 12x12 pocket sleeves, and a Heidi Swapp/Project life pocket scrapbooking kit. The kit I purchase is a newer kit—so it’s smaller and I thought it would be a perfect starting point. I wouldn’t be losing too much money if I decided scrapping wasn’t my thing. But turns out it is…it really is. When I created my first scrapbook page I was so into it and even felt a little bit emotional by it all. Looking at the pictures remembering how I felt that day, things we did, food we ate—it was really great. I’d never felt so calm and happy in a while like I did when I was creating my first page. Then the journal entry sealed the deal, I wrote a two sentence blurb about Thanksgiving with my family. I’m hooked.

Pretty Pink Posh 1st Birthday Celebration--Day 3

Saturday, January 10, 2015

Welcome to day 3 of the Pretty Pink Posh 1st birthday blog hop celebration! Phew! That was a long intro. If you've never stopped by my blog before I'd like to thank you for taking the time to get to know me and my blog. However, if you already know me you'll know that I love to used PPP sequins on almost all of my cards. Paulina (owner of PPP), has the best variety if sequin colors and sizes. When her shop first opened I was apart of the grand opening celebration--and at that time she was only selling sequins, ribbon, and twine. She's come such a long way since and she's now carrying an awesome collection of US made steel dies. She was kind enough to send me a little package of new goodies (which have already been released for sale in her shop) and I had so much fun playing with them!

When creating the card shown in the image above I used the new PPP die, Stitched Duo 3. This is such a great die with so many crafting possibilities. You can use it to create an adorable window card, a shaker card, panel, or an over-sized tag! I choose to use it as a panel and I even turned it upside down. I did that because it fit the little hampster wheel better, hehe. In order to use this die to create a panel you will need a pair of wire cutters so you could separate the stitched squares out from die with ease. Aside from the cute Lawn Fawn stamps and watercolor detail I used when creating this card--I also used the awesome PPP Metallic silver sequins, in all three sizes! Don't the silver sequins look so darling?!

Paulina is offering free prizes today BUT she's also offering something super sweet, too. If you place an order from her shop today you will receive a free gift with your purchase. Head on over to the PPP blog for more information, by clicking here

Since you came here from the blog of Gayatri Murali, you'll need to hop on over to the blog of Laura Streckx. She's next up on the blog hop and she'll have an awesome sample for you to view!

Friday, January 9, 2015

It's day 5 of the Lawn Fawn CHA sneaks--and while this week has been a whirlwind of cuteness they're going to end it on a (and adorable) soft note. This new paper collection, Let's Polka, Mon Amie is by far my favorite paper pad by them. Every Fawnie crafter has there favorite paper pad and this one is mine. If you know me and my crafting style you know that I love soft pastel colors. Those are always my go to when I'm creating; and, even when I'm coloring in little critters and inanimate objects. I imagine myself needing about 10 of these paper pads, hehe.

Not only does these paper come in an adorable 6x6" size but it's also going to be available in the 12x12 size, too--which means you can create everything from cards, scrapbook layouts, treat boxes, and so many other things. Another plus is that they will also be sold individually; for example, if you need to create 12 pink and white polka dot goodie bags you can now! These are exciting times.

Head over to the Lawn Fawn blog by clicking here and check out all the other items being shown today on their blog. You'll also get a chance to win some of these new items. I'll be using my iPhone so I can't guarantee the pictures will be that great, hehe.

Don't forget all of the items shown this week will be available for sale mid February. I hope you have a great weekend and please come back tomorrow I'm joining in on the Pretty Pink Posh birthday celebration and I'll be sharing my card using her new dies tomorrow.

Lawn Fawn CHA Sneak Week 2015--Day 1

Monday, January 5, 2015

Being on the Lawn Fawn design team is so much fun but it’s so hard to get all of the new product in the mail and have to wait a month or two to share it with you all! I’ve had a huge stack of new Lawn Fawn product in my craft room and I’ve just been itching to share it, hehe. The day has finally come were we get to reveal sneak peeks of all of the awesome products that the LF team has created—and once again they’ve knocked it out of the park! Today they’re revealing the new sets: Gleeful Gardens, Baked with Love, Wheelie Like You, Flirty Frames, Year Five, and Let’s play.

I have to be honest—it’s so hard to choose a favorite set from this collection. Each stamp set is so cute; for instance, Baked with Love. This set comes with so many images that are perfect for cardmaking, scrapbooking, creating food gift packaging, and tags. It comes with a table mixer, rolling pin, flour bag, a cute little mound of flour, two cupcakes, butter, a wooden spoon, bowl, cake stand, candle, smiley faces, piping bag—and so many other cute images and sentiments. This is a great set that works all year round. When I create my card with this set I also used Violet’s ABCs to create the sentiment, “you bake the world a batter place”, hehe, super punny and cute.

When I saw, Gleeful Gardens, my jaw dropped—this set is so freaken adorable with the little snails and mushrooms. You can have so much fun create cute scenes  on your cards; for example, I made a card that looks like the snail is delivering mail to the mushroom family, haha—so cute.
I’ve also added images of a few of the other sets that Lawn Fawn is revealing but to get a full view of today’s release click here to view Kelly’s blog post with DT samples, and much more!

What do you think of these new stamp sets?!

New Year's Day Bike Ride in Downtown LA

Friday, January 2, 2015

On New Years Day my boyfriend and I always spend the day riding around Downtown Los Angeles. The streets are usually empty on this Holiday--which makes riding in the street extra fun; however, this year the streets were actually pretty packed. But that didn't stop us from exploring and having fun. No matter how many times we're hanging around in the city we always manage to find new places. We always try to find new places to drink and eat every time we're there, and L.A. never disappoints. What I love about all of the hidden places to eat and drink is how old they are. I'm a sucker for old buildings because of the all amazing detail in them.

This was such a great way to ring in the new year, and I can't wait to get started with all of the new projects I have scheduled for my blog, the Lawn Fawn blog, and many other things. I hope 2015 is just as exciting as 2014 was! I hope you all had a great New Years!
