New In My Shop
Friday, January 4, 2013
This week I made a few new things for my shop, a couple of
zipper pouches, and lots of adorable things for Valentine’s Day. Thanks to my
lovely readers I was able to narrow down the best cards, and I scrapped the
cards that were less popular. So, thank you to those who participate in voting
for your favorites!
One of the newest things I've designed for Valentine’s Day
are these super cute Valentine Treat bags/Candy grams. I made them with
cardstock, glassine treat bags, and ribbon. One of the things I love about this
treat bag is that they can stand up on their own. Wouldn't a whole bunch of
these lined up on a table look so cute?
Which Are Your Favorite Cards?
Friday, December 28, 2012
I can’t help but feel a little burnt out now that Christmas
is over. This year I made over 600 Christmas cards and lots of tags as well. However,
my work as a seller doesn’t stop here—I already need to be thinking about what I’m
going to sell for Valentine’s Day and I need to be getting ready for Wedding
season as well. But, I don’t know why I feel stuck right now, like I’m in a haze—the
best way I can describe what I’m feeling is: a creative burn out. I haven’t had
a sale in about a week so that was enough time for me to take a break (even
though I didn’t want to because I can never manage to stop creating) but I
think I really needed it. During that small break I did cheat and spend an
entire day coming up with new V-day cards for my shop. This year I’m going to
be offering 3 x 3 cards with Kraft envelopes so I’m super-duper excited about
that—I think sometimes I get intimidated by a full 4 x 6 inch space; and, working
with a mini space is always so fun for me. I also thought it would be fun for
me to get some feedback from you! I’ve created 6 mini cards and I’d very much like
it if you told me which of them are you favorite. You can list them all in
order from best to worst or just tell me if you like one or two—either way is
fine by me. I just think it would be sweet if I could get feedback from someone
else for a change.
This week I went to Joanns to spend use some of my gift
cards and I found this amazing flower wreath stamp. When I saw it sitting on
the shelf I was a bit in shock at its beauty—but then I quickly grabbed it
because it was the last one. I didn’t even care how much it was—cute stamps are
worth any price to me.
When I was at the store I also picked up this baby shower
stamp set, it’s SO cute + I also got a happy birthday stamp set because I
realized I don’t have very many of those and I’d like to start creating
birthday card sets.
Isn’t the wreath gorgeous? I colored the flower and leaves
in using stamp markers and I stamped this lovely ‘I love you’ sentiment. I
think it’s perfect for Valentine’s Day.
Here is a sample of a baby shower invitation I’m wokin’ on—it’s
in the beginning stages.
Lastly, I have these two birthday cards. I think they’re so
dreamy and whimsical. Go ahead and let me know what you think in the comments,
and let me know which of the mini cards shown above are your favorites too. I’d
really love to hear from you! Take care and have a great weekend!
My Blue Valentine Edible Cupcake Topper Tutorial
Saturday, January 21, 2012
When it comes to Valentine’s Day many individuals like to make their special someone something from the heart—something they can make with their own hands. Baking is one of the best ways to express our love, and I have a fun, easy, and affordable way for you to spread some love around.
What you’ll need:
1. Mini Crockpot or double boiler.
2. 1 bag of candy melts
3. Glue
4. A ceramic cup with a spout
5. Squeeze bottle
6. Wax paper or parchment paper
7. Heart cut-outs and scrap paper
8. Tray
9. Iced cupcakes
Step 1: Glue your heart cut-outs onto your scrap piece of paper, leaving enough space in between each heart.
Here is an example of what it should look like:
Next, place your paper with the glued hearts onto your tray, and then place a piece of wax paper over hearts and set aside.
Melt your candy melts over a double boiler (instructions for double boiler is on the back of the candy melts package), or in your mini Crockpot. Once the candy is completely melted pour it into your ceramic cup. Tip: What I like to do is place my ceramic cup into the microwave for a minute or two—bringing the cup to room temperature.
From this point, transfer the melted candy into your squeeze bottle.
Now you can begin to trace the hearts on the wax paper using the template you made.
Front this point you can leave it the way it is, or you can fill in the heart with a creative design like so:
Once all your hearts have been drawn let them set for 15 minutes at room temperature. Once they have hardened you can gently remove them with a spatula, and then decorate your cupcakes! Here are two ways to lay your edible cupcake toppers.
I ended up having a little bit left over so I had fun with free hand designs in the end and this is what I came up with!
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial/idea. I certainly had a lot of fun making them and sharing them with my friends and family. Also, don’t let the fun end here. Think of ways you can use this idea for other holidays or even birthdays!
Till next time ;)
