DIY--Easy New Year's Eve Confetti Bags

Tuesday, December 30, 2014

Celebrate the beginning of the new year with these quick and easy New Year's Eve confetti bags! This simple DIY is made with a few simple tools; such as, the Large Stitched Rectangle Stackables, Violet's ABCs stamp set, the little confetti stamp from the set, Birthday Tags. and some glassine bags. If you are unable to find glassine bags in such short notice you could always purchase some cello bags, too. Those would look just as cute because you can see through them even more. I purchased a huge bag of pre-cut confetti from a party store near by but if you can't get your hands on some you could always punch some out yourself--as shown in my video ^^above.

It's been such an honor to be creating all of these videos for you all! Being asked to join the Lawn Fawn design team was one of the major highlights of 2014 and I can't wait to work with them for many years to come. There is lots in store for 2015 and I'm so happy you are all here to join me!

In case anyone was wondering about what I used on my nails in this video you can find the shop I purchased them from here--enjoy! (Although it seems that they've sold out of the gold and silver wraps but I'm sure they will restock them soon).

Last Minute Food Gifts

Friday, December 19, 2014

Time is running out and Christmas is literally right around the corner. I’m usually always doing last minute gifts, cards, and decorations—so I thought I’d share this quick and easy last minute food gift idea using the goodie bag die from Lawn Fawn. If you can’t already tell—I’m obsessed with that die (click here to view) and I just love how adorable the boxes turn out, whether I’m using pattern paper or directly stamping onto the box—either way is so cute and so much fun to make. But if you ever wondered what sweets might fit in those boxes here are a few ideas:

Hershey’s Kisses—you can’t go wrong with chocolate and you can stuff about a handful of these in each box.

Amaretti Cookies—These Italian cookies are so delicious and I also love the vintage style packaging they come in. You can fit one cookie in each box so it might also be nice to include a few little extras with those cookies.

Mini Gingerbread cookies—I bought these from Trader Joe’s but I’m sure you can also find these at your local markets since these are popular Christmas cookies. You can fit a few of these cookies in each box.

Peppermint Pretzel Slims—these are so tasty and you can fit a good handful of these into each box. I also purchased these from Trader Joe’s. However, these types of treats can also be found in lots of other stores this time of year.

Candy Canes—of course, you must have candy canes. They’re slim and they look so cute peeking out of the boxes. These are definitely a must have for Christmas.

Lastly, I purchased a box of Taste Test Caramels. This is definitely for a chocolate enthusiast AKA my dad. I’m going to simply wrap that gift up and place it under the tree. I thought it would be a cute little gift because he absolutely loves chocolate.

I hope these ideas helped!

Hanging Boxes on the Christmas Tree--DIY

Tuesday, December 16, 2014

It’s always a little hard trying to find the cutest way to put a gift card under the Christmas tree but this quick and easy DIY will help remedy that minor issue. Lawn Fawn has the most adorable little goodie bag die (you can find it by clicking here), and aside from using it as a treat box you can also use it a gift card holder and even hang it from your Christmas tree. Problem solved!

If you’re already a papercrafter all you’ll need is this die (if you don’t already have it), some pattern paper, and this twine. You can create your own tag with any dies you’d like however, if you wanted to know which die and stamps I’m using to create this tag you can click, here, here, here and here.

All I did was cut two of the box die cuts using my Cuttlebug and assembled it using some adhesive. Next I created the tag with the stamps and die mentioned above. Next I took some twine and simply wrapped it around the box a few times to keep it sealed nicely and then tied a knot at the end of the remaining twine—just like you would with a tag.

Quick, simple, and super adorable!

It's day four of the Lawn Fawn Release week and today they revealing the new dies! Click here for day one, click here for day two, and click here for day there. LF has released another set of stitched dies but this time they are the circles! What fun right?! You could create everything from banners, to shaker cards, place cards, and even cupcake toppers--the stitched edge details is so very elegant. I just love it. I used these dies to create the 'INSPIRE' banner above along with the Louie's ABCs dies, and Flutter by. If you take a look at the banner you'll notice I used dies to cut those out, and that's because LF is also releasing the coordinating die set for Flutter by! It's that so awesome?!

Another die that will be released is the new installment in the scripty die collection. They've added this adorable 'love' scripty die that is perfect for Valentine's Day. Aside from it being used for Valentine's day, it can also be used for a just-because card, anniversary card and many other things! You can use it like I did above by using the negative space to create a shaker card or take the positive and use on a card front or as a cupcake topper!

Lastly, I have this 'Fly away with me' card and I'm using the new stamp set, Bugs and Kisses, stamp set along with the coordinating dies; and, I'm also using Hello Sunshine--GREAT NEWS is they are also releasing the coordinating dies for Hello Sunshine now. In the last card shown above you can see how I used the dies for the inlayed sun and cloud; however, I also used those dies for the balloons.

My Thanksgiving Decor and a Black Friday Coupon Code

Friday, November 28, 2014

I just wanted to share a quick post with some of the pictures I took yesterday of the DIY decor I created for our Thanksgiving celebration. The mason jars and bottles were all hand painted by the two nights before—as well as the place cards and “give thanks” banner. Everything was doing kind of last minute. I went to the flower market in downtown Los Angeles and found so many pretty flowers and I got them all for a really great price. I think because they were so cheap I ended up buying way more than I really needed but that’s ok. The extra flowers will be placed all around the house.

I had such a great time spending time with family that I don’t really see that much; and, it was so nice to be able to eat all of my favorite foods! My sister is in professional baking school and she created some amazing treats for us—like the naked cake, bread, and pumpkin pie cheese cake (not pictured). Aside from doing all of the decorating I managed to make a spinach dip that only lasted about an hour and I also made my famous lemonade but this time I added cranberries, too.

To give thanks to everyone that has ever purchased from me I’m offering a 50% off coupon for my shop! If you’re in need of anything Christmas cards, stamps, baby shower decor, banner, or wedding items head over to my shop and use the coupon code: UNIFYB50

I hope you all have a great weekend!

Getting Ready for Thanksgiving

Wednesday, November 26, 2014

I’m so lucky because on Thanksgiving all I have to worry about is decorating the house. I don’t have to have fuss with the food preparations at all—and that I’m thankful for. This year I didn’t really plan out what theme I wanted for the decor and as per usual I’m doing everything last minute. I started shopping for glass and tissue paper yesterday and I was trying to find things I could buy that would make the set up good amazing—but then I realized that I have everything I need at home. There was no need to go all out and spend tons of money. So while I was realizing this at the store I just picked up a few small things to add to the things I already had at home, and I ended up just buying the tissue paper and 4 glass bottles. I remembered I had 6 mason jars at home—along with copper paint so I thought I’d use those to make the vases aka centerpieces.

For the banner and place cards I used my trusty stash of Lawn dies, and stamps. To create the banner I used the stitched party bannerdies along with louie’s ABCs and stitched leaves. You can’t tell from the image but I’m also using the silver sparkle lawn trimmings—it looks so pretty up close. To create the place cards I used the dies and stamps from the set sweater weather and I love how they came out. I still need to add the names of the guests’ and make a few more, too, but I’m getting there!

As far as the table decor I’m planning on heading to the flower mart at 6 in the morning tomorrow over in Downtown LA. I’m hoping it won’t be packed but it’s a holiday so I’m sure it will be. I wanted to use the color copper for some time now. I’ve had the Martha Stewart paint sitting in my closet for months and I finally get to use it.

Tomorrow I’m going to take pictures of the entire set up and I’ll share them with you on Friday. I hope you enjoyed this little sneak peek into my preparations and I hope you have a great holiday!

Day 4 of the Fawny Holiday Inspiration Week

Thursday, November 13, 2014

Hello everyone! It's another day in the Fawny Holiday Inspiration week--a week full of awesome cards, videos, and giveaways. You get a chance to win a stamp set ever day, this week, on the Lawn Fawn blog. You can click here to be directed to their page for your chance to win.

I created a card this week on Monday (you can view it here) but today I'm making a video and sharing a fun DIY project. This mini snow globe is simple, clean, and easy to mass produce if you plan on giving them away as little stocking stuffers; or, even just have a fun craft day with the gals! I found this plastic picture snow globes at my local Michaels craft store--but I'm sure you can find them at so many other craft and hobby stores, too. These are the types of snow globes that one would typically place a picture in; however, as a crafter I thought it would be fun to create the snow globe insert pictures out of stamps by my favorite stamp company! I hope you enjoy this video as much as I enjoyed making it!

Fawny Holiday Week

Monday, November 10, 2014

It's day one in the week long Fawny Holiday celebration week! Lots of crafty gals have gathered to create holiday themed projects to share with everyone; and, I thought it would be fun to step out of my Christmas theme bubble and recognize other great holidays as well--like Hanukkah!

If you're a huge fan of Lawn Fawn like me you might always ask people who also share the same love for LF, "What was your very first Lawn Fawn stamp set?; or, "How did you discover Lawn Fawn?". Well, if you were wondering which stamp set started my healthy obsession with LF it would be this Happy Hanukkah stamp set that I used to create this card! I had opened my Etsy shop prier to finding LF and one day I thought I'd like to have a little variety in my shop by adding both Hanukkah cards as well as Christmas cards. So I searched google and came across a intro video for this stamp set. I watched the video and immediately new I needed to have this set. Then when it came in the mail about a day or two after ordering it I was so happy with the packaging and how Kelly included a free mini stamp set along with my package and then I wanted more! So, I jumped back onto my computer and ordered my second stamp set, Plus one, and the rest was history.

Aside from using the, Happy Hanukkah stamp set for this card I also used a lot of the little snow flake images that came in the new sets, Snow day, and deck the Halls. I also used watercolors to create this blue background on the panel--and I added a little bit if charm with the new, Blue Jay Lawn Trimmings

I hope you really enjoyed this card and my little fun fact about how I found Lawn Fawn. To view all of the other cards and projects for the Lawn Fawn design team, the Lawnscaping design Team, and the awesome gals over at the Lawn Fawn HQ click here--and don't forget to visit the LF blog every day until Friday for lots more Holiday inspiration!
