My Simple Thanksgiving Decor
Sunday, November 27, 2016
Thanksgiving is over, but I wanted to share my super simple decor. Living in Los Angeles, means I have access to the famous Flower Mart--where one can get amazing flowers for such a great price! This year I didn't want to go too traditional with the fall colors and I simply went with what attracted me at the flower market. I had some of these wooden baskets left over from my little sisters baby shower so I decided to fill them with these amazing flowers. I am by no means a florist so I simply used things I had laying around in my craft room to create this arrangement. I found, a few bowls, plastic bags, and a sponge, hehe! In our family we love to throw parties and have family over for dinner so we always have linens, plates, and mason jars in the garage. These beautiful scalloped white plates were purchased from the 99 cent store. You would think it just by looking at them, but they are so nice--what a great dollar store find. I hope you enjoyed this simple post and I hope you had a great thanksgiving with your family.
Getting Ready for Thanksgiving
Wednesday, November 26, 2014
I’m so lucky because on Thanksgiving all I have to worry
about is decorating the house. I don’t have to have fuss with the food preparations
at all—and that I’m thankful for. This year I didn’t really plan out what theme
I wanted for the decor and as per usual I’m doing everything last minute. I
started shopping for glass and tissue paper yesterday and I was trying to find
things I could buy that would make the set up good amazing—but then I realized
that I have everything I need at home. There was no need to go all out and
spend tons of money. So while I was realizing this at the store I just picked
up a few small things to add to the things I already had at home, and I ended
up just buying the tissue paper and 4 glass bottles. I remembered I had 6 mason
jars at home—along with copper paint so I thought I’d use those to make the
vases aka centerpieces.
For the banner and place cards I used my trusty stash of
Lawn dies, and stamps. To create the banner I used the stitched party bannerdies along with louie’s ABCs and stitched leaves. You can’t tell from the image
but I’m also using the silver sparkle lawn trimmings—it looks so pretty up
close. To create the place cards I used the dies and stamps from the set
sweater weather and I love how they came out. I still need to add the names of
the guests’ and make a few more, too, but I’m getting there!
As far as the table decor I’m planning on heading to the
flower mart at 6 in the morning tomorrow over in Downtown LA. I’m hoping it won’t
be packed but it’s a holiday so I’m sure it will be. I wanted to use the color
copper for some time now. I’ve had the Martha Stewart paint sitting in my
closet for months and I finally get to use it.
Tomorrow I’m going to take pictures of the entire set up and
I’ll share them with you on Friday. I hope you enjoyed this little sneak peek
into my preparations and I hope you have a great holiday!
Lace Theme Thanksgiving Decor
Friday, November 23, 2012
Hi! I hope you had a great Thanksgiving. A few posts’ ago I
mentioned that the theme for this years’ Thanksgiving was going to be lace, and
that I also wanted to incorporate the colors light green and light orange.
However, those colors are pretty difficult to find when you’re on a tight time
frame and I had to accept using regular orange and green accents instead. I didn't mind though, because those darker shades are still great for
Thanksgiving. So, I started the morning by making 3 flower arrangements for the
main table, and when I was at the flower mart I was looking for light oranges
and greens but couldn't find them so I just went simple and found the closest thing
I could find. I’m not that great at flower arranging but I always have fun
doing it, hehe.
I also wanted to have little lace accents here and there so I
went to the dollar store and bought two scented candles and a pack of lace. All
I did for these was remove the wrapping, cut a piece of lace that fit perfectly
around the candle and applied adhesive to the lace using my tape runner,
and placed it onto the candle—it worked so well!
Next I made some treat bags and used my green lace to create
a cute ribbon closure.
I also made some really cute lace place cards (they match the invitations--to see them click here).
I wanted to try something new with my traditional limeade, so I added kiwi and used agave nectar to sweeten the drink, and it tasted so good!
I wanted to take pictures of our food, but by the time the food was served I didn't even want to pick up my camera anymore. I was so hungry, haha. I hope you enjoyed my decor and I hope you're having a great Friday!

Card of the week—Thanksgiving Place Cards
Wednesday, September 26, 2012
With the excitement of Halloween and Christmas some of us
seem to forget about Thanksgiving until it’s literally right around the corner—but
this year I want to be ready! I seem to always forget how much I love to decorate
for Thanksgiving until it’s the night before and I don’t have time to put my
ideas on the table. This year my goal is to make a place card for each person that’ll be attending our dinner. It’s something I’ve always seen in magazines
and it’s secretly something I’ve always wanted to have at a party.
It took me a try or two to get a place card design that I
really loved, and I’ll show you how I did it.
Step 1: Cut a 5 x 3” piece of ivory cardstock and then cut a
2 ¾” x 1 ¾” piece of pattern paper
Step 2: Fold the ivory cardstock piece in half
Step 3: Use a gelly pen to create a sewn border edge, then set aside.
Step 4: I used the super cute ‘so thankful’ stamp set by
Lawn Fawn. Click here if you’d like to purchase the set.
Step 5: Stamp the pumpkins and leaf onto a scrap piece of
white card stock
Step 6: Color them in, cut them out and get them ready for
placement
Step 7: Adhere the pumpkins to the pattern paper like so
Step 8: Stamp the sentiment
Step 9: I created the guest names with Harold’s ABCs stamps
set created by Lawn Fawn. You can click here if you’d like to purchase this
set.
Step 10: Adhere the pattern paper piece to the cardstock and
you’re finished!
Thanks for stopping by. I hope you come back again for more
D.I.Y.s for Thanksgiving because I plan to post more ideas for this tasty
holiday.
