I always like using different fonts when making some quick
and easy invitations, and at times I get emails asking how I go about getting
the fonts perfectly sized, and I basically just use the lasso tool. I select
it, right click on the section I want to adjust, and drag it either up, down,
left, or right. Once I'm satisfied with how it all looks I just copy paste that entire image onto a 8.5" x 11" new sheet of paper and print that out (so I get 4 invitations per sheet). Well, I hope this helped, and I'm so looking forward to sharing everything else we're doing for Thanksgiving this year! I think this will be my first time sharing Thanksgiving preparations and it's so much fun sharing these ideas with you all!

Thanksgiving Preparations
Monday, November 19, 2012
Hi everyone! Hope you all had a great weekend! My weekend
was kind of bitter sweet because I got to spend the entire weekend with my
boyfriend but the night before I was heading over to his house I got a back
spasm and I could barely even move—so while I did get to spend lots of quality
time with him I mostly unable to even move, LOL—so embarrassing. Moving on,
these days are getting so busy and today I wanted to share what’s going on in
my house—as far as invitations and decorations go. I also got a few
questions as to how I was able to create my Thanksgiving invitations and I
wanted to share a quick tip as to how I was able to get all the different fonts
sized exactly the way I needed them to.
So, I used my trusty Kraft card stock sheets for the base of
the card. I used a standard 8 ½” x 11” sheet and basically just cut it in half
length wise at 4 ¼” then cut those two sheets down length wise again at 5 ½” .
This gives you four perfectly sized card stock bases at 4 ¼” 5 ½”. Next I used
this really cute lace pattern paper from Michaels—it’s my fav! I think the last
time I went I bought all of this paper the store had because it was on sale,
hehe. Sorry to anyone who wanted some from the store in Hacienda Heights, LOL.
So what I did with the lace paper, is cut a few pieces at 4” x 5 ¼”. Doing this
leaves a quarter inch boarder. Then I set those aside and went to my computer
to create the invitation information.
I mentioned in another blog post that the theme of this year’s
Thanksgiving dinner is ‘lace’ and that the other colors I wanted to incorporate
were going to be light greens and light oranges—so I jumped onto Etsy to buy
some paper straws. I know that I’m using these for drinks, but I want to use
them for other things as well—so we’ll send what I end up doing with them.
I also purchased some glassine treat bags; and, again I’m
not sure what I’m going to do with these—but it’s always nice to have them on
hand, hehe.
...I thought about using the glassine bags as envelopes. What do you think? They look super cute right? Next I want to quickly share the tool I used to adjust all the font sizes:
Shopping--Fashion + Crafts

I know I usually only have a ‘Card of the week’ post on
Wednesdays but today I’m just so excited about some new things I bought over
the weekend and I really wanted to show them to you. I’ll also still post my ‘Card
of the week’ post later on in the day—I still need to create my weekly card in
order to keep my sanity, hehe. I usually don’t go shopping for new shoes,
clothes, and other fashion accessories that often because, to be honest, I
always spend my money on new crafting tools. I’m addicted to stamps, paper, and
other nerdy things. So, I bought these super, super cute black and white
chevron flats from Forever21—I also picked up a couple new pairs of earrings.
Aren’t they so cute?
Then when I was at the craft store I found this sticker maker and
I couldn't leave the store without it. I've seen this mini machine in a couple
of crafting videos and I've always wanted to give it a try. It’s so easy, all
you do is take the paper shape you’d like to convert into a sticker, insert it
through the top, pull the sticker tab, and you've got yourself a sticker! You
can leave it on the plastic or remove it and use it right away. I’m so in love
with this that I’m thinking of purchasing the bigger one (I wanted the smaller one first to check out the quality). The first stickers I made where these faux
lace envelope seals for the Thanksgiving invitations I made for our family
dinner this year. My theme for Thanksgiving is going to be browns, olive
greens, and white lace! I’m so excited.
Next is this awesome Hello Kitty washi tape. As you know I
love washi tape and when I found this at Michaels I had to stop myself from
buying all of them—I had to contain myself—because they had four different
types! So I just bought the cutest one. I can’t wait to use this.
I also found the new line of Christmas stamps by Martha
Stewart, and even though I don’t need more stamps I bought them anyway. Bad me,
but they’re an investment right? Well, that’s the excuse I use when convincing
myself to buy them. I do love buying her stamps though because they are kind of
one of a kind. The stamps and craft punches she comes out with only come out
once, and never come out again. So, I always try to get her new stamps. I hate
when I’m too late and I find myself buying them on Ebay for 3 times more than I
could have gotten them in the first place, hehe.
Oh! Next is this awesome black ink. When I had craft day at
my friend Yang’s house she introduced me to this dye ink pad (which is perfect
for use with acrylic stamps) and I absolutely love it and recommend it. If you
remember about a month or two ago I spoke about how I didn't like acrylic stamps
because of the poor quality image I’d get when stamping…well I found out it’s
because I was use the wrong type of ink. So after finding that out I rushed over
to ebay and bought one for myself. It was funny because as soon as I got it in the
mail, I ripped the package open and started using all my acrylic stamps that I
hid away because I thought I’d never get a good image out of them, haha, and
when I saw how great this ink was working I was so thrilled. It’s so embarrassing
how excited I get over this stuff. I’m such a craft dweeb.
