Thanksgiving Preparations

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a great weekend! My weekend was kind of bitter sweet because I got to spend the entire weekend with my boyfriend but the night before I was heading over to his house I got a back spasm and I could barely even move—so while I did get to spend lots of quality time with him I mostly unable to even move, LOL—so embarrassing. Moving on, these days are getting so busy and today I wanted to share what’s going on in my house—as far as invitations and decorations go. I also got a few questions as to how I was able to create my Thanksgiving invitations and I wanted to share a quick tip as to how I was able to get all the different fonts sized exactly the way I needed them to.

So, I used my trusty Kraft card stock sheets for the base of the card. I used a standard 8 ½” x 11” sheet and basically just cut it in half length wise at 4 ¼” then cut those two sheets down length wise again at 5 ½” . This gives you four perfectly sized card stock bases at 4 ¼” 5 ½”. Next I used this really cute lace pattern paper from Michaels—it’s my fav! I think the last time I went I bought all of this paper the store had because it was on sale, hehe. Sorry to anyone who wanted some from the store in Hacienda Heights, LOL. So what I did with the lace paper, is cut a few pieces at 4” x 5 ¼”. Doing this leaves a quarter inch boarder. Then I set those aside and went to my computer to create the invitation information.

 I mentioned in another blog post that the theme of this year’s Thanksgiving dinner is ‘lace’ and that the other colors I wanted to incorporate were going to be light greens and light oranges—so I jumped onto Etsy to buy some paper straws. I know that I’m using these for drinks, but I want to use them for other things as well—so we’ll send what I end up doing with them.

 I also purchased some glassine treat bags; and, again I’m not sure what I’m going to do with these—but it’s always nice to have them on hand, hehe.

 ...I thought about using the glassine bags as envelopes. What do you think? They look super cute right? Next I want to quickly share the tool I used to adjust all the font sizes: 

I always like using different fonts when making some quick and easy invitations, and at times I get emails asking how I go about getting the fonts perfectly sized, and I basically just use the lasso tool. I select it, right click on the section I want to adjust, and drag it either up, down, left, or right. Once I'm satisfied with how it all looks I just copy paste that entire image onto a 8.5" x 11" new sheet of paper and print that out (so I get 4 invitations per sheet). Well, I hope this helped, and I'm so looking forward to sharing everything else we're doing for Thanksgiving this year! I think this will be my first time sharing Thanksgiving preparations and it's so much fun sharing these ideas with you all!
